IMPLEMENTED BY THE MINISTRY
Training
Various skills and entrepreneurship training program
implemented to enable women to develop themselves and take a chance in the job
market. A total of 3,000 women entrepreneurs benefit from the program,
particularly recipient Diligent National Foundation (YTN). A similar program
implemented under the Entrepreneurship Program Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA),
which provides training to 8000 women.
Entrepreneurship Program
Under the YTN scheme of RM200 million had been disbursed to
46 thousand women to assist them in entrepreneurial activities. Under the
Special Assistance Scheme for Women Entrepreneurs of RM18.5 million was
approved to 185 women entrepreneurs. These loans help them engage in
information technology-based services, designers and packaging, research and
development and marketing. The training program was also implemented to assist
women entrepreneurs to upgrade their business to small and medium-sized industrial
enterprises (SMEs). Under the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Development
Programme 154 training workshops were conducted benefiting 6,238 women. As a
result of this program, women have joined the agri-food industry, which
generates a turnover of RM94.1 million.
Nur Sejahtera program
It was introduced to educate women about the importance of
regular medical examinations and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Health Line was
introduced to provide comprehensive and integrated online information on
non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart related diseases.
The move underscores the centrality of health and early detection of cancer.
Establishment NIEW
The establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the
Empowerment of Women (NIEW) is an international institution that focuses on
women's empowerment through a lifelong learning approach. NIEW also served as a
catalyst for NAM countries through various training and research program to
strengthen south-south co-operation of the State in the empowerment and
advancement of women.
The establishment of the National Advisory Council for the
Integration of Women in Development (NICIWID)
It was established by the Prime Minister in 1976, aims to
translate the global action plan on women in developing countries. In addition,
it advises the government on matters pertaining to women in State relations.
The establishment of the Secretariat Affairs (HAWA)
In 1983, HAWA has been established to monitor and evaluate
services provided by public and private sector for the benefit of women. Apart
from acting as key information on women's affairs, HAWA also serve as the
secretariat to the NACIWID
Ministry of
Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Malaysia
Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development of
Malaysia (abbreviation, MECD) is a ministry under the government between 2004
and 2009, served as the lead agency for the development of Bumiputera
entrepreneurs. The last minister Dato 'Noh bin Omar.
MECD role with government departments and agencies is
essential to expand and accelerate Bumiputera participation in mainstream
economic activity and thus help achieve the target of 30 per cent Bumiputera
equity ownership in 2020. MECD and agencies under which the role is to plan,
coordinate, implement and monitor entrepreneur development programs that
include activities such as the following:
• Formulate policies and strategies and development
programs;
• Implement, coordinate and monitor programs for
entrepreneurship development at the Federal and State;
• Identify and develop business opportunities with the
potential to be accompanied by an entrepreneur;
• To facilitate, guide and provide advice to entrepreneurs
and aspiring entrepreneurs;
• Establish strategic partnerships and networks with
government agencies, research institutions and the private sector to engage in
R & D, quality, standards, management, technology transfer and marketing to
develop entrepreneurs;
• Facilitating the development of the internal entrepreneurs
(intrapreneurship) by agencies under MECD;
• Review the role and effectiveness of the cooperative
movement as an entrepreneurial development strategy and generating economic
development; and
• Formulate recommendations to ensure the establishment of
SKM's financial position and operating systems are sturdy and safe society, cooperative sector stability and promote the
development of the cooperative sector are organized, transparent and
sustainable.
KPNKKHEP
Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (the
ministry) is now known as the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and
Consumer Affairs (Ministry) effective June 11, 2009.
KPDNHEP was originally established in October 1990 with the
aim to promote the development of domestic trade ethically while protecting the
interests of consumers.
Ministry's areas of responsibility include the regulation of
domestic trade, the protection of consumer rights, intellectual property
protection, and registration and supervision of business.
In carrying out this responsibility, the ministry
formulating and reviewing policies on domestic trade, monitor prices of
essential goods and conduct enforcement activities to foster an environment
conducive to domestic trade.
The ministry is also responsible for coordinating policy;
licensing, regulatory and safety-related activities for the petroleum,
petrochemical and gas.
The change was made due to a number of relevant agencies of
cooperation that were previously placed under the Ministry of Entrepreneur and
Cooperative Development (MECD), now under the Ministry for MeCD been repealed.
The ministry is also responsible for the agencies which were
previously located under MeCD including National Corporation (PNS), the
Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM), the Cooperative College of Malaysia
(CCM) and the related franchise and vendor development.
